Coach Travis Lavin

I have been running since the 4th grade and continue to run competitively in track, road, and trail running. Running has allowed me to meet so many amazing people and travel to some great places. Originally from Southern Illinois, I moved to Colorado to pursue my dreams of running professionally. I have since then run in some of the top trail races in the country and competed against the best in the world.

I love ultra running because it allows everyone of all abilities to play on the same playing field. Everyone is out there trying to achieve their own personal goal from trying to win, set personal records, to finishing the race. You can literally be in the same race with some of the best runners in the world, no segregation between the people who do it professionally and the people who have full-time jobs and love running as a hobby. We all come together to enjoy the beautiful trails together.

I got into coaching when I was at Mckendree University, where I received a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Coaching. I ran out of eligibility to run my final year of school and found coaching at Mckendree University as a way to help pay for schooling. I fell in love with coaching in that first year as an assistant coach. I enjoyed helping create the training schedules for the athletes and helping them achieve their goals, and seeing them succeed as a team and as individuals. Throughout my time there I was able to help numerous athletes become All-American and national qualifiers in their respective events. It brought me joy to see them succeed. I have since continued to coach individuals and it still brings me happiness to be able to help runners of all kinds reach their running goals.
