DESCRIPTION:1st Annual Memorial Race \n5k and 10k Run/Walk Saturday\, March 11\, 2017 \n@ the corner of 3rd Street and Curry Street \nDowntown Carson City\, Near Firkin and Fox \nMy name is Alyssa Woodward. I am a senior at Carson High School. Sixteen months ago\, I lost my big brother Jordan to suicide. My life changed forever that day and I have spent a lot of time thinking of some way to honor him. Statistics don’t lie. According to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention\, there are over 44\,000 suicides in the United States annually\, making it the tenth leading cause of death. That is\, on average\, 121 suicides per day. I don’t want my brother’s legacy to be just a statistic. To cement Jordan’s memory\, for my senior project\, I am establishing a scholarship in his name supported by a 5k/10k race and private donations. The scholarship will consist of two recipients\, one female and one male and will be awarded based on set criteria and a volunteer selection committee. A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to the local Suicide Prevention Network. It is my initial goal to make this an annual event\, in hopes of providing this scholarship each academic school year. My long term goal would be for this event to become part of a statewide initiative for suicide awareness and prevention.

DESCRIPTION:This event is what the title says\, a 10 mile run. Just beyond a 10K (6.2 miles). But not quite as far as a half marathon (13.1 miles). \nOr if you are more interested in running a shorter distance\, get together a team and run in the 2 or 3 person relay. We’ll divide the 10 mile course into three legs. On a 2-person team\, one member will run two legs and the other member will run one leg. On a 3-person team\, each member will run one leg. The legs will be between 3 and 4 miles. \nThis is going to be a spectacular course that shows off many of the landmarks of the city and the University of Nevada.

SUMMARY:12th Annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey Relay Run Adventure
DESCRIPTION:It is a long wandering. A relay run ideally suited for teams of 12 runners on a 178 mile course. Starting in Downtown Reno along the Truckee River. Traveling through the Sierra Nevada mountains and along the shores of Lake Tahoe. Circling back through the Northern Nevada high desert to where you began in Reno. \nThe race begins Friday. It is a staggered start\, with waves of teams starting every 15 to 30 minutes. The slower seeded teams will begin around  9 a.m. and the faster seeded teams will begin in the afternoon. Exact start times will be announced in the month before the event. Plan to get to Reno by Thursday night.
