SUMMARY:Stop Drop & Mud 5K
DESCRIPTION:What is the Stop\, Drop & Mud? \nWe are proud to be bringing a mud run to Mountain Ranch again this year.  For our 2nd Annual Central Fire Mud Run we are planning approximately 16 obstacles along the route that will range from fire fighter skills to strength and endurance tests. \nParticipants will start and finish at the Mountain Ranch Park in the heart of Mountain Ranch.  All participants will receive a 2018 Stop\, Drop & Mud T-shirt. \nParticipant are welcome to walk or run the course.  All obstacles are designed to be challenging but are accomplishable by people of all ages and abilities. \nObstacle Course \nObstacle course races have become one of the most popular events in the running world in the last five years. There are races out there that have you run through mud\, bounce down slides or even get splattered with paint.  We wanted there to be more of a firefighter theme to this run.  The Stop\, Drop & Mud Firefighter Challenge has several firefighter themed obstacles that give you a glance of the live of a firefighter.  You will battle through 16 different obstacles that will challenge your strength\, stamina and endurance. \nRunners will run the race in a wave format beginning at 10:00 a.m. and every 30 minutes thereafter.   This race is open to anyone age 11 and up. \nKids 1 Mile Mud Run \nThis year we are adding an additional Kids 1 mile Mud Run for kids under 10 years old.  The kids run will be in/around the Park in Mountain Ranch and will include at least one mud pit.  All obstacles for the kids will be the full size adult obstacles to challenge the kids in strength and endurance. \nWhy run it? \nThe Stop\, Drop & Mud is hosted by the Central Calaveras Firefighters Association.  When you run in some of the larger obstacle races you are supporting a company that is hosting the race and then donate a very small percentage of the funds to some charity.  Our race is different.  Every single aspect of the race is planned\, constructed and organized by our Volunteer Firefighters and Association members.  Countless hours are spent to get this race ready for our participants. \nFinancially every single dollar that is raised goes directly to supporting Central Calaveras Fire & Rescue Protection District. SUMMARY:Ninja Run 5k
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the first annual Ninja Run is to continue the legacy and to honor two remarkable young people: Rose Scarpa and Ryan Volker\, who were killed in an automobile accident before they could start their lives together. \nThe first thing Rose ever wanted to be was a ninja and she worked hard toward that goal\, earning a blue belt in Kung Fu by age ten and a gold belt in Tae Kwon Do at 22. One of her favorite past times was watching Kung Fu movies with her mom.  As she grew up\, she discovered a love of cooking and pursued this goal with equal vigor; graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley and becoming a professional chef. \nWhile cooking at the Atlantis in Reno\, she met and fell in love with Ryan\, who was also a chef.  As a child Ryan and his brothers loved the “Ninja Turtles” and since their single Dad walked with a cane as did the Ninjas’ master\, they christened themselves the Turtles. Upon Ryan and Roses’ passing\, the three remaining brothers got matching Ninja Turtle tattoos. This is how the ninja theme originated. \nRose and Ryan were leaving for Oregon on the first leg of a trip to cook around the world when they were killed swerving to avoid a deer. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Journal Jog\, an 8K run and walk in Reno\, Nevada that passes through Idlewild Park and along the Truckee River. It is family friendly. \nNEW this year! Every participant will receive a finisher’s medal. \nThis is a great first 8K for new runners. There is a division for pushing strollers. There also are various team categories including one for caterpillars. Costumes are encouraged. This is the 49th annual edition of this event. It is Reno’s oldest footrace and an annual rite of passage for many.
