The majority of this takes place above 6\,000 feet and above treeline. \nOn June 16-17th\, 2017 elite and recreational participants will experience an unforgettable trail experience “where the mountains meet the sky.” The Broken Arrow Skyrace features three distances: a 52K\, 26K and Vertical K. Runners will be treated to spectacular views of Lake Tahoe’s emerald-blue waters and Squaw Valley’s unmistakable high-alpine terrain. \n\nElite and recreational participants will run and then celebrate together with first-class food\, craft beer\, music\, films and fun activities for the whole family. \n​ \nThe Broken Arrow Skyrace is a 2018 UTMB Qualifying Race. The 52k is worth 3 points and the 26k 2 points. Points are applicable for all UTMB races (UTMB\, CCC\, TDS\, OCC\, PTL).

DESCRIPTION:The Polio Purple Pinkie Trail Run has raised roughly $30\,000 over the past 7 years for the Rotary Foundation’s Polio Plus Fund. This money directly supports immunization campaigns in developing countries where polio continues to infect and paralyze children\, robbing them of their futures and compounding the hardship faced by their families. \nWhy Purple Pinkie? Every time a child is immunized\, their pinkies are colored purple to show that they are safe from this crippling and deadly disease. Now with new reports of polio amongst the refugees\, it continues to be of importance to help us fight. The polio cases represented by the remaining one percent are the most difficult to prevent\, due to factors including geographical isolation\, poor public infrastructure\, armed conflict and cultural barriers. Until polio is eradicated\, all countries remain at risk of outbreaks.

DESCRIPTION:1st Annual Memorial Race \n5k and 10k Run/Walk Saturday\, March 11\, 2017 \n@ the corner of 3rd Street and Curry Street \nDowntown Carson City\, Near Firkin and Fox \nMy name is Alyssa Woodward. I am a senior at Carson High School. Sixteen months ago\, I lost my big brother Jordan to suicide. My life changed forever that day and I have spent a lot of time thinking of some way to honor him. Statistics don’t lie. According to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention\, there are over 44\,000 suicides in the United States annually\, making it the tenth leading cause of death. That is\, on average\, 121 suicides per day. I don’t want my brother’s legacy to be just a statistic. To cement Jordan’s memory\, for my senior project\, I am establishing a scholarship in his name supported by a 5k/10k race and private donations. The scholarship will consist of two recipients\, one female and one male and will be awarded based on set criteria and a volunteer selection committee. A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to the local Suicide Prevention Network. It is my initial goal to make this an annual event\, in hopes of providing this scholarship each academic school year. My long term goal would be for this event to become part of a statewide initiative for suicide awareness and prevention.
